Today (last Thursday) we went to the endology clinic for my husband Brandon to get a colonoscopy and endoscopy and to hopefully find some more answers with his health. It's Thursday (last week) and he ate his last meal at Bambara on Tuesday night around 6pm. All day Wednesday he could only drink clear liquids. Water, chicken broth, gatorade, sprite, you get the picture. That's it! He was sooo hungry! I felt guilty eating in front of him, so I'm not. I thought the hunger was subside by this morning, but they didn't. Nope, it got worse!
Anyway, we arrived here at the clinic around 830am. When we walked in, the office was already full of people. Old people. REALLY old people. We were the youngest by about 30- 40 years. It even smelled old in there. Not to mention, it was really HOT! All the people in the room but us and one other person were on oxxygen, had hearing aids and talked really really loud even though they were sitting right next to one another. The Today Show was on full blast, my guess was so they could all hear Matt Lauer talk to people that none of these people really cared about. However, for me this was the only positive thing going on in the entire room. A distraction. A much needed distraction. UNTIL, they started cooking with a lady from Martha Stewart. Poor Brandon, this was cruel and unusual punishment for someone who hadn't eaten in about 2 days. But, as we were watching and salavating over the cake they were baking, one of the older ladies asked if her husband could watch the Price is Right! "He can't miss his Price is Right!" What?! NO! and is that show still on?! Brandon and I watched as the lady put someone on hold on the phone to get "Luther", who I might add was half asleep, the Price is Right.
Well, B and I caught the giggles about this whole scene. We were laughing so hard! So hard in fact that we had to grab a magazine to cover our faces. Much to our laughter attack, we opened the magazine that we were hiding our faces from to this very page!
Oh, that brought the laughter to an uncontrollable point. I think that I even snorted! Brandon was so hungry and I opened the magazine to this VERY page. YOU FOOD! The only good thing was, I don't think anyone could hear us! They were too busy watching some lady win $21,000 playing Plinko! (I always wanted to play Plinko, but it's just not the same without Bob Barker.)
And then one of the ladies looked at her husband, yawned and said, " Well David, we are going to have one hell of a nap today!" She then pasted gas! OH MY GOSH! What the hell was that?! It was 9am and all they could think about was a nap and letting it all go!
Needless to say, when Brandon was finally taken back and after I regained control of myself, I had to leave. I more or less ran out of the office. BREATHE! Fresh air! Of course when I came back, the old people were gone, but it was still really hot and did not smell any better. AND now the Young and the Restless was on the TV Really?! I felt a little young and restless, so I guess I could relate. Maybe. However, why couldn't I be here when Days of Our Lives was on. I needed a quick Sami and EJ and Stephano fix. I needed to dwell on someone else's problems, so mine didn't seem so bad. (I also, have always wanted to star on Days. I really would! BUT, that's another post for another time! A guilty pleasure of mine you could say.)
BTW, have you ever noticed that the commercials that are on during daytime TV are all about being hurt in an accident, needing a motorized wheelchair, bowel regularity and debt problems?! hmmm....
Anyway, I digress. Sorry! But here I was still waiting.... waiting for Brandon to be done with his tests so I can get him so yummy food. Waiting for answers that will hopefully put us in the right direction with his health. Praying as always, well begging and pleading is more like it. I have faith that all of this will turn out and we will be better for it, but for right now, I am back to watching the young and the restless.. in a very smelly room, and oh yeah, did I mention it's HOT in here?
